Privacy

Data encryption in Google Chat video conferences, data is encrypted during transmission for security reasons. This is done for video conferences in a web browser, in the Google Chat apps for Android and Apple® iOS®.How audio and video are encrypted Audio and video data is encrypted using SRTPAESCM128HMACSHA180 (that is, a 128-bit AES encryption and SHA-1 HMAC authentication method). If you participate in a video conference via telephone, the audio data is transmitted via the network of the mobile phone provider and may not be encrypted.

For better audio and video quality, a direct peer-to-peer connection can be used for video conferencing in Google Chat. Routing over such a connection is sometimes more efficient than over Google servers.
